Seiko SKX173 - One of the best Seiko watches around

A favorite dive watch amongst divers, the Seiko skx173 with its classical dive watch looks, reliable functionality and outstanding value, this Seiko dive watch is undoubtedly a contender to be one of the best dive watches around.

Besides being elegant to wear on your wrist during any occasion, you will find that this watch is rugged and durable enough to handle all the beatings normally associated to diving yet you will be surprised to learn that it is very comfortable to accompany in the depths of the ocean as much as it is comfortable on your wrist in any fancy occasion.

Let’s have a quick look at the Seiko SKX173 features.

First and foremost the most important aspect of this dive watch is that it is compliant to ISO 6425 standards which is an international standard which dictates the authenticity of a true dive watch. The Seiko SKX173 is designed for diving and as such has been water-tested to 200 m (660 feet). For this reason, this dive watch has the all the criteria to be called a Seiko divers watch.

The next feature you will need to know is that the SKX173 uses a 21-jewel automatic mechanism, meaning you will never need to open the watch to change batteries. This type of watch mechanism requires only the movement of your wrist to wind itself.

Giving it additional durability this dive watch design includes a scratch-resistant hardlex crystal which believe me is extremely scratch resistant and is encased in stainless steel. A classical Black dial face with a lumibrite three hand function, bar markers and an English/Spanish date and date window all contribute to the  skx173’s attractive appeal.

An industrial looking style of unidirection bezel sits firmly on top of the case lined with 10 minute bar increments and dot markings for the minutes in between. Moreover the placement and dimensions of the markers within the dial allows you to easily read the time at a glance. A screw-down case and crown is featured on this dive watch to provide additional protection. This is just what you need for when you are diving.

Finally the Seiko SKX173 dive watch is completed by a heavy duty long, pressure-vented polyurethane strap which fastens through a clasp closure. In my opinion the combination of steel, black dial together with the strap provides the Seiko skx173 with awesome looks. If however, the polyurethane strap is not your style, you can easily change the strap to an aftermarket stainless steel strap to give it a more classical finish.

Conclusion

Regardless of whether you will be using the skx173 solely for diving or not you will appreciate its great rugged design and reliability. With its sturdiness and durability, this dive watch will not let you down. You can be rest assured that it will remain a great companion for many years to come.

In my opinion with such an affordable price, you will not get any better timepieces than this Seiko dive watch. If you are looking for a great durable dive watch that will stand the test of time, then get yourself a Seiko Skx173.
